Wow– what a day!
JA hosted our first annual (planning for next year is already in the works!) Stock Market Challenge event on Tuesday, November 17th at Innovation Campus. A high school team competition kicked off the day, featuring nearly 230 students on 56 different teams from 18 different high schools and 11 different communities. It was a whirlwind course in the world of investing, and the students really impressed us with their decision-making skills! Later in the evening, the adult event featured 23 corporate teams. Believe us when we say the competition was fast and furious there too!
Big congratulations to the Waverly High School team, winners of the High School Competition for Highest Return on Investment with $3.265 million! Ashland-Greenwood came in second with $2.816 million, followed by the Pius X team in third with $2.660 million. For the adult event, the UBS Tim McEwen team took home the top prize for the highest return on investment with a $3.8 million portfolio. 2nd place for Highest Portfolio Value went to UBS Larry Sock’s team.
We are hugely grateful to our presenting sponsor UBS! A wonderful group of UBS employees also served as the traders for the student event. Thanks also go out to Nelnet and Lincoln Industries, sponsors of the opening and closing bells.
We got some great local coverage for this fun event! You can read the JournalStar article here.
