Opening Bell About to Ring

StockSliderHave we mentioned how excited we are about our newest event? The first-ever JA Stock Market Challenge is coming up on Tuesday, November 17th– and time is running out to get in on the action!

The JA Stock Market Challenge will allow both students and adults to try their hand at the fast-paced world of investing– and we do mean fast! Each team is given $1,000,000 in Mock Stock, and then they’ve got to be decisive as a new trading day starts every 80 seconds. Trades are reflected immediately on three large projection screens which track stock prices, show which teams are in the lead, and provide graphic depictions of stock performance.

This exciting event is made possible by UBS, our presenting sponsor. We’d also like to thank Nelnet for being our Opening Bell Sponsor, Lincoln Industries for sponsoring the Closing Bell, and KFOR 1240AM for joining us as our media sponsor. KFOR will also be broadcasting live from the student event from 1-3pm on the day of the event, so everyone will be able to hear the action live on the air!

We have nearly 50 high school teams representing 200 students participating and fighting for the top prize of Highest Return On Investment on their team’s $1,000,000 portfolio. High Schools participating include Lincoln Southwest, Lincoln North Star, Lincoln High, Lincoln Northeast, Pius X, York, Newman Grove, The Career Academy, High Plains, Waverly, Seward, Osceola, Milford and Nebraska City.

There is still room for additional corporate teams of four to participate in the adult evening event (cost is $750), and also for businesses to sponsor the high school teams in the afternoon event (sponsorship of one high school team is $250, and sponsors can even choose the school they’d like to support!). A big thank you to the companies who have already jumped on board to support the JA Stock Market Challenge: UBS, Nelnet, Lincoln Industries, Fiserv, Molex, Farmers Mutual Insurance, UNICO, IntoMetal Inc., Ameritas Investment Corporation, Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC, TMCO, Inc., Ray’s Lawn & Home Care, Mapes Industries, Farm Bureau, ContiTech Continental, RBC Wealth Management, Union Bank & Trust, Waddell & Reed, Owen Industries, Mass Mutual, PrairieSmarts, Nebraska Wesleyan University, and Summit Consulting.
