Now that we’ve had a little time to catch our breaths after the end of the school year and really take a hard look at the numbers, we’re happy to report that 2014-2015 was a big one for JA of Lincoln! Overall, we saw an 8.1% increase in students impacted— 24,076, up from 22,274. That’s 1,800 more students than ever before benefiting from real-world lessons in finance, business ethics, and entrepreneurship!
A big chunk of the growth was thanks to the significant gains we made in Kearney, where the JA curriculum was in 71 classrooms (compared to just 20 last year!). We are also excited to have been able have a JA presence in all public and parochial kindergarten and first grade classrooms in Beatrice for the first time. That’s a total of 18 classrooms, and we’re so grateful for the support from the community in Beatrice! At home in Lincoln, we’ve continued our partnership with LPS to provide the JA Exploring Economics curriculum taught by a community volunteer in all Business Economics classrooms. It’s a big commitment, and a great chance to put a lot of high school students on the path to financial success.
Of course, all this growth brings growing costs, which is why we’re so thankful for everyone who took part in a wonderful year of events and fundraisers. We hosted our biggest Bowl-a-thon ever, with a whopping 329 teams and a net revenue of $120,000! Our JA Tailgate Dinner and Auction and Golf Classic were also very successful, helping to fund all this exciting growth. We know that we can only grow as fast as our revenue will allow, which is why we just can’t thank everyone enough for the continued support. We’re so fortunate to be part of a community that recognizes the value of investing in our students. Their future successes and innovations will be what keep our city, state, and nation strong!
