That’s exactly what happened recently for JA of Lincoln when our staff traveled to the JA National Leadership Conference in Pittsburgh. JA Areas can be awarded 3, 4, or 5 Stars annually, and we’re happy to share that we were awarded the 5 Star Award! As one of the highest honors a local office can receive, Star Awards are meant to recognize staff and boards in JA Areas that meet JA USA’s operational standards for compliance, student impact, operational efficiency, financial stability and sustainability.
“These Star Award winners represent the best Junior Achievement has to offer,” said Jack E. Kosakowski, President and Chief Executive Officer of Junior Achievement USA. “They set the standard by which Junior Achievement’s success is measured at the local level. Their commitment and dedication to young people is reflected in their achieving this honor.”
“We are thrilled to receive the Five Star Award!” said Tera Norris, president of Junior Achievement of Lincoln. “We thank our classroom volunteers and corporate partners who joined with our board of directors and staff to empower thousands of young people to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices. You are the ones making a difference for the students of Nebraska, each and every day!”
In addition to the 5 Star Award, JA of Lincoln was also one of only 12 JA offices in the nation to receive the Peak Performance Award. The Peak Performance Team Award recognizes superior annual performance by a Junior Achievement Area staff team. To qualify for this award, JA Areas must earn the Summit Award for FY 2012-13 and FY 2011-12, show growth in student participation, and report a Current Year Operating Surplus. We’re proud and grateful to say that we did it!
Thank you for all you do to make JA of Lincoln one of the top Junior Achievement programs in the nation!
