At JA of Lincoln, there’s almost nothing that makes us happier than hearing from our alumni. We are always so excited to hear about what they’re accomplishing, and we love knowing that their JA experiences are serving them well as they take their next steps.
We recently received this letter from Alex Van Ackeren, who just completed his freshman year at Creighton University. Alex is an alumni of our Driven Youth Invitational program, and the winner of our 2013 Ken Carlson $1,000 college scholarship (you can read a profile on him here).
“My experience with Junior Achievement has been nothing but positive. I can think back to my early grade school years, and the volunteers who came to teach about entrepreneurship and the power of the assembly line. Those experiences helped to spark my passion for the business field. Step forward a few years into high school, and the Driven Youth Invitational took that passion and intensified it. DYI allowed me to learn first-hand about business leaders in my area and how to replicate their successes and learn from their mistakes, while having a positive influence on the community. Junior Achievement has helped me to keep in mind that the business world is not just about making profits, but also giving back to make the world a better place. Through JA, I have been able to picture the kind of leader and businessman I aspire to be as I enter the workforce and work to lead Ford Motor Company as the CEO one day. Junior Achievement is truly a world-class organization and I am grateful for the opportunities I have been given. As I continue my journey, I know Junior Achievement will be right next to me every step of the way.”
We wish Alex all the best in his future endeavors!
