Wow, do we ever have some amazing news to share!
We did it. We faced the challenge, mobilized our resources, and reaped the very, very big reward.
One year ago, JA of Lincoln was approached by a very generous person with a very big challenge. This person believes deeply in the JA mission of empowering young people to own their economic success, and wants to see JA of Lincoln continue to flourish long into the future. So this person – who is choosing to remain anonymous – gave us a goal. They challenged us to embark on an unprecedented fundraising campaign. We had to raise money like never before, mobilizing all of the corporate and individual friends who have supported us over the years. And if we could do it, the payoff would be big. $100,000.
As you might imagine, a $100,000 to the JA Foundation would go a long way in keeping our organization financially stable for years to come. In essence, it would allow us to practice what we preach – to build the kind of strong financial base that ensures security regardless of changing economic conditions. It’s what we teach our students every day. Hard work and sound investment today translates into a better tomorrow.
We embarked on Operation: Bright Future knowing that meeting our goal was possible, because JA of Lincoln has a truly amazing network of friends and supporters. To date, we have raised $200,000 through gifts and pledges from our friends. Because of the success from the campaign, the Junior Achievement Board of Directors recently approved a gift to the JA Endowment fund of $100,000.
All of that was enough to prove to our anonymous donor that we are more than serious about carrying our mission far, far into the future. And because of that, the gift has been confirmed – $100,000.
This campaign and the generosity of so many of you will allow JA to continue to grow, reaching more and more students every year, and making a difference in our community and in the lives of our city and state’s young people.
“Thank you” seems like too small a sentiment…
But what else can we say? On behalf of the students of today – and of tomorrow – we say thank you. Thank you for a better shot at success. Thank you for a more entrepreneurial spirit. Thank you for generous mentors who will shape their futures.
Thank you for helping us to build a better Lincoln, better state, better nation, one classroom and one student at a time.
