JA Celebrates Our Volunteers at Awards Lunch

It takes a village – or at least as many people as you’d find in most villages – to bring the JA curriculum to the students in our area. This year alone, more than 700 volunteers took our message to more than 1,000 classrooms in and around Lincoln. That’s a lot of man (and woman!) power! That’s why our annual awards luncheon is one of our favorite days of the year. We know that we say ‘thank you’ a lot – but on this day, we get to demonstrate our gratitude in a more concrete the people who care so much about Lincoln’s students, who give so generously of their time and talents, and who make our work possible.

On June 12th, more than a hundred community leaders, local educators, and JA supporters gathered at the Cornhusker Hotel to honor some truly outstanding people. Out of that army who are making the JA mission possible, this year we were happy to honor:

Volunteers of the Year

Scott Argo, Horizon Bank
Bob Grundman, Senior Benefit Strategies
Bob Engles, Engles Agency

Educators of the Year

Shawn Carlson, Roper Elementary
Cynthia Hoehne, Northstar High School
Sandy Reisdorf, North American Martyrs Catholic School

Company Coordinator of the Year

Ryan Trausch, Lincoln Federal Savings Bank

Three especially wonderful individuals also received JA Worldwide Leadership Awards, which are presented to a select few long-time supporters of JA who demonstrate extraordinary dedication to the JA mission. Recognized this year were:

JA USA Leadership Awards

Randy Kinney, IntoMetal Inc (Bronze)
Dennis Martin, Saint John the Apostle Catholic School (Bronze)
Mike Boland, SourceOne (Silver)

Congratulations again to all of this year’s exceptional honorees. These individuals are truly making building a stronger future for Lincoln through their dedication to our young people. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you all!
