Just about every teacher has one thing in common: there are things they’d love to do for their students… if only the money were available. With schools forced to run on tighter and tighter budgets, too often great opportunities for innovative student learning fall victim to lack of funds.
Junior Achievement of Lincoln is here to help!
Once again this year, we’ll be awarding teachers in the Lincoln area grants of up to $500 in order to take the JA curriculum beyond the classroom walls. The JA Remigio Teaching Excellence Grants were designed to give teachers the opportunity to be creative – to take the concepts of financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship out into the real world through trips, projects, and experiences. Past winners have taken students on field trips to grocery stores to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse at how food gets to their tables, given students the opportunity to meet and interview small business owners about the challenges they face, or helped high schoolers participate in overseas philanthropy. The possibilities are endless! One of last year’s winners, Sandy Dorn of Meadow Lane Elementary, sums it up nicely. “The Remigo Grant gave my students a learning ADVENTURE! The application process was easy and quick to complete. Our involvement with Junior Achievement has made a lifelong impact on my students’ lives.”
