Junior Achievement of Lincoln is gearing up for year number two of Driven Youth Invitational, and we’re looking for Lincoln’s most motivated high school students! Last year a great group participated in our pilot program of this one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn step-by-step how to start a business from the ground up with the help of some of our area’s top entrepreneurs. One of those students was Tyler Hurley who told us he’d recommend the program to any high school student, regardless of their interests.
Tyler said, “I think DYI has prepared me greatly for the future… [I was] given a wonderful opportunity to learn from some of the best entrepreneurs in southeast Nebraska, to learn from the mistakes they made, and to benefit from the lessons they learned in their journey to running a successful business… From DYI, I gained tools necessary to succeed in growing a business and in everyday life.” (For Tyler’s full interview about his experiences with DYI, click here. He had some great things to say!)
Students in the program (which is, of course, totally free!) are asked to attend weekly evening classes for seven weeks beginning on September 18th. Each week will feature a guest speaker, and then students will be mentored through the process of writing their very own business plans. They’ll generate ideas, learn how to conduct market research, and discover the critical steps to succeeding in the business world. It’s an amazing opportunity, and we don’t want anybody to miss out! If you know a high school student who would benefit from DYI, please send them our way. Space is limited, so act now! For all the details on class times and locations, click here.
