Tera Norris Is Finalist for National Award

If you’ve spent any amount of time in the business world, you know that growth doesn’t happen by accident. Responsible, sustainable growth requires ingenuity, intuition, and good-old fashioned business sense– in short, a great leader. Thank goodness, JA of Lincoln has one of those in our President Tera Norris. And we’re not the only ones who have noticed!

We’re proud to announce that Tera has been chosen as one of four national finalists for the 2012 Karl Flemke Pioneer Achievement Award, presented annually to recognize exceptional achievements and contributions of JA Presidents with fewer than four years in their current position.

Tera took the helm of JA of Lincoln in 2010, having previously served as Director of Marketing and Special Events. We’ve enjoyed great growth under her leadership, and now reach more than 18,000 Lincoln-area students every school year. JA of Lincoln Board of Directors President Randy Bretz says, “It’s challenging to follow a long-time leader of an organization, and Tera has done it well. She’s taken an organization with a solid foundation and begun to build an exciting future. In the past year we’ve seen growth in our classroom programs, conceived and started Bank on Youth, fostered exciting things for those high school students with entrepreneurial interests and helped JA Lincoln initiate a Job Shadow program. And that’s not all, we’ve added some new companies to JA Lincoln’s support and been the benefactor of several special grants. JA Lincoln is one of the leading JA programs in the United States and the future looks bright thanks to Tera Norris, our President.”

The winner of the award will be chosen and announced in July, during the Junior Achievement National Leadership Conference in Grand Rapids. But no matter what the outcome is, we couldn’t be prouder of Tera and the work she does for Lincoln students every day!
