JA of Lincoln can help you with that last one, and we can do it with an experience that is valuable, rewarding, and a whole lot of fun. Every day, we send volunteers from the business community into classrooms to share their first-hand knowledge with the entrepreneurs, workers, and leaders of tomorrow. We give you the curriculum and teach you to present it, and then you enrich it with your own experiences. You can pick the school and grade level, tell us what works with your schedule, and we’ll find your match. You give 5 hours of your time that could change the lives of students in your community. It really is that easy!
To kick off the new year, we’ve even come up with a way to make it easier than ever for you to get the training you need to head into the classroom. Thursdays in January, February, and March, we’ll be hosting lunchtime training sessions at the JA offices. All you have to do is show up by 11:45 (feel free to bring your lunch!), and we’ll teach you everything you need to know before then end of your lunch hour. Best of all, we’ll personalize it to you!
If you’ve never volunteered for JA before, you’ll get a full introduction to the curriculum. If you’ve volunteered before but it’s been awhile, we’ll help you brush up. If you’re a volunteer who is switching to a new grade level, we’ll get you comfortable with the new material. If you’re just looking for some ways to freshen up what you’ve been teaching, we’re here for you with plenty of ideas to reinvigorate the curriculum! Of course, everybody is invited and encouraged to bring along a friend or colleague who might be a great future volunteer — we’ll convince them why giving 5 hours to JA could be one of the best decisions they make all year!
Sessions will be held January 12, February 9, February 23, March 8, and March 22 from 11:45-12:45 at 285 S. 68th St. Place. If you’d like to attend a training session, you’ll need to RSVP by the Tuesday prior to the day you’d like to come by completing the brief form below, emailing Kelly Pargett directly at email@example.com or calling (402) 467-1741.
Here’s to making a difference in 2012! Lincoln’s students will thank you!
