With negative stories about teenagers so often in the news, it can be easy to forget just how many great kids there are out there. There will always be teenagers who get themselves into trouble, but there are far more who are excelling in school, making an impact in their communities, and dreaming big dreams. One of the great parts about being involved in Junior Achievement is seeing first-hand how the good kids are heading for such promising futures—and having the opportunity to help them along the way!
Each year, a committee of JA staff and board members has the pleasure of reviewing scholarship applications from some of our area’s best and brightest… and each year, they report back about what an encouraging experience it was. This school year, JA handed out $5,750 to high school seniors with impressive records of academic success and achievement in JA programs. Their future plans range from nursing to business to fashion, but all are reasons to be optimistic about the future of our community.
